Getting Started
Connecting a new website to FormDumpling takes about a minute. From your dashboard, click the Websites button in the sidebar, then click Connect New Website to launch the four-step setup.
1. Website Details
Enter the URL of the website you want to install FormDumpling on, along with a title we'll use to refer to this website in all communication. The title auto-fills from the URL, but feel free to customise it. Make sure you have access to the backend of the website, as you'll need to paste a script tag into it later.
2. Website Context
FormDumpling will visit your website and generate a short context summary to help categorise leads more accurately. This takes a few moments. Review the generated context and edit anything that's off before continuing.
3. Install Script Tag
Copy the generated script tag and paste it into the global <head> section of your website. Most website platforms have a "custom code" or "head code" setting for this — a quick Google search for your platform will point you to the right place. Publish your website once the tag is in place.
4. Verify Connection
Open your website in a new tab to load the script, then come back and click Verify Connection. If the installation status flips to Script Active, you're all set. If not, double-check the URL, the pasted script tag, and that the site has been published, then try again.
Google Tag Manager works too. Add the script as a Custom HTML tag, publish, then verify.
That's it — once verified, FormDumpling will start picking up form submissions and routing them through your inbox.
Which forms does FormDumpling capture?
By default, FormDumpling picks up submissions from every form on your website. The one exception: forms containing a password field are automatically skipped. These are almost always login or account forms rather than lead-capture forms, so excluding them keeps your inbox clean.
If you'd like to prevent FormDumpling from capturing a specific form, add a data-formdumpling-ignore attribute to its <form> element and it will be left alone entirely.
Inbox
Every lead FormDumpling captures is also stored in a unified Inbox on your dashboard — accessible via the Inbox button in the sidebar — so you always have a central, searchable record of your submissions, separate from your email client.
The Inbox is useful when you'd rather not switch between email threads, when you want to filter or scan across all your websites in one place, or when you simply need a calmer view of incoming leads.
It's also your safety net. If a lead notification gets accidentally deleted, archived, or lost in your email, the original submission stays safely on the dashboard. Nothing you receive through FormDumpling is ever only in your inbox.
Inside the Inbox you can:
- Browse all leads across every connected website in a single table.
- Open a lead to see the full form submission, the categorisation, and the user's journey on your website leading up to the submission.
- Reclassify a lead if FormDumpling's automatic categorisation got it wrong — your correction is reflected instantly.
- Filter by website, classification, date range, and more to quickly narrow things down.
- Reply directly to the lead from within the dashboard, without leaving the page.
You can open it any time by clicking the Inbox button in your dashboard sidebar.
Make sure notifications reach you. All FormDumpling lead notification emails are sent from thomas@formdumpling.com. To prevent them from landing in your spam folder, add this address to your safe senders list or contacts in Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, or wherever you manage your email. Most clients will trust a saved contact automatically. Marking a FormDumpling email which landed in your spam folder as 'Not Spam' works just as well if you'd rather do that instead.
